Greetings from San Diego. As usual, the Comic-Con has been a lot of fun so far--even though the show floor has expanded to absurd, absurdly crowded proportions, and even though I'm interested in only about five percent of the activities going on here.
So far, I've hung out with a bunch of friends, acquired three nice pieces of artwork from 1940s Columbia cartoons for a total of $30, seen (but not acquired) high-school yearbooks with art by Preston Blair and Bob Clampett, watched a preview of the new Duck Dodgers TV series (not great, not terrible), attended lots of panels (even though the ones I was interested in were all scheduled at the same time), laughed my head off at Jerry Beck's "Worst Cartoons Ever" panel, met Howard Post, picked up various books I've been looking for eons, and come close to accidentally bowling over Stan Lee at a hotel coffee shop. More details to come at the MessageCenter and in our next chat.
